Telemedicine Appointments Now Available

As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federal government has allowed a more liberal use of telemedicine to allow patients to access healthcare while maintaining social distancing. We at Niagara Dermatology Associates have embraced this opportunity to serve our current and future patients.  To that end, we are allowing patients to schedule telemedicine appointments with our providers. An additional incentive to use this platform is that Medicare and most insurances are currently waiving co-pays for this service. Available platforms include, Skype, Facetime, Google Voice, and now through our patient portal.  We will also extend hours of coverage from 8am to 8pm for your convenience. Please call 716-205-8324 now for an appointment.

Have this information handy:

--Your current insurance plan and member ID.

--The platform you wish to use.

--The nature of your medical issue.

--The time you would like to be connected.

For the Patient Portal and PocketPatient™ App:

If you do not already have access to your portal, we can enable access when you call for an appointment. You will need to verify your email address and phone number.

You will need access to a webcam, speaker, and microphone if you are using a laptop or desktop computer. To use a smartphone, you can also download the PocketPatient™ app.

When the provider is ready for the appointment, an email will be sent to you. You will then log into the portal through firefox or chrome, or you can log into your PocketPatient™ app. Select 'Join Video Visit' to be connected to the provider.

General, Surgical & Cosmetic Dermatology - Lewiston & Kenmore, NY

Welcome to Niagara Dermatology Associates LLC

At Niagara Dermatology Associates, we strive to provide the absolute best in dermatologic care. Our
board-certified physicians along with the physician assistants, medical assistants, and office staff
work as a team to listen and attend to all your needs as well as the needs of your entire family as we
see and take care of patients of all ages, from infancy to elderly individuals. Let us take care of not
only your simple skin needs such as rash, to your complex history of having had numerous skin
cancers. We are the true skin experts.

What is a dermatologist and what does a dermatologist do? Dermatology is a medical specialty that
deals with the diseases and conditions that affect skin, hair, nails and mucus membranes. This field
deals with not only the medical conditions that affect the skin (like psoriasis, rashes, acne, skin
infections and skin cancer), but we are skin surgeons dealing with both benign and malignant
conditions of the skin (such as the treatment of cysts, moles or nevi and skin cancers like
melanoma),as well as cosmetic dermatology or the cosmetic enhancement of the skin.
Dermatologists are medical doctors who have the most extensive training in the treatment of skin
diseases. After attending an undergraduate institution, they attend medical school for four years
becoming a medical doctor, and then they enter an internship for one year, generally in internal
medicine as many dermatologic conditions have systemic manifestations as the skin is a true
window into the health of the body. After the intern year, they complete their dermatologic training
which lasts for three years. Some dermatologists may do a fellowship to undergo further training
after their residency is completed. Our dermatologists are board-certified by the American Board
of Dermatology.

What is board-certification and why does it matter? Board Certification demonstrates a physician’s
exceptional expertise in a specialty of medical practice. Certification by the American Board of
Medical Specialties involves a rigorous process of testing and peer evaluation that is designed and
administered by specialists in that specific area of medicine. It also sets the stage for life-long
learning for the board-certified physician in that they must maintain their high level of training with
continued medical education.

We want our patients to be informed about their skin condition and their treatments because
informed patients make better decisions about their health and well-being. We have included
information aboutsome common skin problems on our site that have been written by our doctors
to give you real information about these topics as there is so much information on-line, a lot of it
being incorrect and hard to get through and trust. We encourage you to refer to these pages if
you need information about a skin condition or concern.

We know that dermatologists are notoriously booked out with appointments and difficult to get in
to see. We strive to be better and not have long wait times. We will always see patients as well
if your physician really feels you need to be seen sooner and calls the office. Location is also
important, and we have two convenient locations in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area, one in the
north towns in Lewiston, and one in Kenmore. We have maps listed with addresses and driving
locations here on the website. Please feel free to contact us with concerns or an appointment.
